The Sheffield Innovation Spine is a thriving, connected urban community of scaling businesses, co-locating in world-leading facilities on a route weaving through Sheffield city centre.
This builds on existing infrastructure and momentum in Sheffield. Our city is becoming well known for its startup culture and there is a wealth of science and technology research and innovation taking place here.
Now is the time to bring it together, improving and increasing the spaces available and creating an environment to attract and retain talent and businesses.
UNLOCKING A ROUTE FILLED WITH POTENTIAL
Sheffield Innovation Spine weaves through the northern section of Sheffield City Centre, an area filled with character and potential. Linking both universities, the route takes you from Sheffield Station and Sheffield Hallam University’s City Campus, heading north to Sheffield Digital Campus, Castlegate, Riverside, West Bar Square, Tenter Street and West Bar until you reach the University of Sheffield’s main campus.
To create a powerful and collaborative cluster along this route - we need lab space, workshops and fast-tracked access to existing capabilities within our universities, as well as high quality spaces in between - cafes, restaurants and meeting spaces.
It forms part of the South Yorkshire Investment Zone and complements regional innovation assets in the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District, 2 miles east of the Sheffield Innovation Spine.
